Woot! I get to be the first to comment on your awesome cover! It all ties together perfectly: the tagline, the tiny angel wings in the upper right corner, and the light illuminating Mr. Blond and Gorgeous. Love it.
The angel wings icon looks like a female body part to me. I would give that some more work.
Thanks anonymous. I can't say I thought about that before-but now that you mention it, I CAN'T stop seeing it. That'll get tweaked. ;)
Very romantic. I didn't notice they were angel wings - I thought it was a heart with an interesting design. *laugh* (Course, if I had thought about it... halo... wings... heaven sent. Yeah.)
I love the light shining on the guy.
I like his body language. The hands in the pockets, subtle slouch, and half smile all say, "Yeah, I'm hot, but you have a chance!" Nicely done.
It's a great cover. Guy kinda looks like Sam on Glee, so should perk up a lot of interest from young people.
Good luck with going Indie! I'm thinking of going this route as well.
@ Abigail Sharpe, @Heather Bitzer- Thanks!
@Clover Autrey - I love Sam, despite his trouty mouth.
Great cover! The hero reminds me of Zac Efron...with bleached hair. Wishing you mega sales! :)
This is a terrific cover. Great model. Wonderful staging very suggestive of what we'll find inside. Also a great tag line. Great job!!!
I think the cover is perfect, with the exception of the wings in the upper corner. You're right, you can't stop noticing them now. I think splitting them apart would help, but you're guy is perfect, and the shaft of light behind him gives him the "heaven sent" approach. Best of luck.
Carey - I think your cover is a winner, and the model is perfect for the book. The problem isn't whether the cover can compete, but whether the marketing and distribution can compete. This isn't just an issue for small pubbed and self pubbed authors, though. I know a lot of mid-list authors with big New York publishers who don't always get the benefit of end cap or face-out placement in book stores, even with the backing of a major publisher. It's a real crap shoot.
The benefit of self publishing, now that it has gained acceptance with readers, is you are free to be creative in your approach to marketing, and you aren't stuck sitting back and letting someone else make these decisions for you. It's a brave new world out there, and I wish you lots of success!
Great cover! Nice job :)
Thanks to everyone for their positive comments. The Poll is showing 77.4% think the cover can compete with NY published books. I'll take those odds. Gladly. ;)
The cover has great elements, like the model and the tagline. But, I don't like the font/type treatment. It looks amateur and 'homemade'. Sorry, but I'd love to see you succeed so just giving you my 2 cents. I totally judge a book by it's cover and tho the guy is HOT, I feel the story would be just 'eh'.
Well done! I love everything about this cover. This cover is heaven sent! Definitely does NOT look homemade. The guy is super cute! And your story sounds wonderful.
Who is the guy in the cover? Best cover ever
He's a stock photo cover model. LOL! Wait till you see the cover of the sequel THE KEEPER. We're doing a shoot with a local actor and he's adorable!
BIG reveal around the new year.
